I had the privilege to grow up in a Christian home. Going to church and Sunday School, reading the Bible, and having family devotions were all a part of my upbringing. As a young child, I was rebellious, and because of my attitude and stubbornness toward authority, I was sent to a children’s home. Since the children’s home was run by a pastor, there was a strong Godly influence in my life. Through the preaching there at the children’s home, I realized my need for a Saviour. At the age of nine, I knelt at an old-fashioned altar and accepted Christ as my personal Saviour. I was baptized shortly thereafter.
At the age of 18, I joined the army. My first duty station was at Ft. Riley, KS. There, I met my lovely wife and had the privilege to introduce her to God’s Word and her need for salvation. After eight years in the army, we returned to Kansas. I became actively involved in the work of the Lord at Harvest Baptist Church. It was there God called me to preach on December 13, 2005. In August 2009, I was able to take a vacation to California to see my parents. During that trip, my heart was broken at the multitude of people that have yet to be reached with the Gospel. With my heart stirred, I knew God had a specific plan for my life. Through counsel with my dad, my pastor, and my personal walk with God, it was made clear what God had in mind. Plant a church!
I had the privilege to grow up in a loving family. My siblings and I were raised Catholic by my mother; my father was a Methodist. Well into my college years, I still faithfully attended the Catholic church, but something had changed. I felt empty inside…I was just going through the motions. I finally stopped going to the Catholic church about May 1995, just a couple months before I met my future husband. I know now that God was preparing my mind and heart for Him. I met Jason in July of 1995. He was stationed at Ft. Riley, his first duty station in the army. He took me to Calvary Baptist Church, in Junction City, KS. This is where I heard the Gospel for the first time, since I don’t ever remember hearing it in the Catholic church. I was saved October 14, 1995. I knelt down beside my bed and prayed and asked Jesus into my heart. Since I was not brought up to express religious feelings, I did this in the privacy of my bedroom. I then made it known publicly shortly after. I was baptized December 31, 1995. On March 23, 1996, we were married. We moved to Junction City, KS and joined Calvary Baptist Church. We became faithful members and were involved in the ministry there.
After my husband served eight years in the Army, we returned to Kansas and settled in Manhattan. Harvest Baptist Church has been our home since its beginning. I was blessed to be involved in the music ministry, Sunday school ministry, and bus ministry as well as being a support to my husband as we serve God together.
